1 dead, 2 hurt as bus rams truck in Bataan

ABUCAY, Bataan — A trailer truck driver died and his two helpers were seriously hurt after a passenger bus crashed into their vehicle along Roman Highway here Wednesday night.

Abucay police investigator, PO3 Rocky Marciano, said doctors at the Bataan General Hospital (BGH) in Balanga City declared Edu Guardanio, 49, dead on arrival while his helpers, Paul Tambraza and Christopher Viesca, are under observation.

Marciano said the passenger bus, which was traversing the right lane, suddenly skidded to the left lane, bumping the oncoming truck at about 8:40 p.m.

“There was a heavy downpour before that. Thus, the road was wet and slippery,” he said.

The three victims were pinned on their seats and it took rescuers some time to take them out.

Some 22 passengers of the bus, on the other hand, were also rushed to the BGH but were soon released.

Abucay police chief, Senior Insp. Jennifer Cruz, said investigation is ongoing. (Ernie Esconde/PNA)
