12 Cebu cops relieved

CEBU CITY — Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Edgar Alan Okubo on Thursday ordered the relief of 12 Talisay City policemen who had gone on leave with no permission.

Okubo and some CPPO officers conducted a surprise inspection at the Talisay City Police Station on Dec. 30 and found the 12 law enforcers missing from duty.

The CPPO chief ordered the 12 to report back to the Talisay Police Station that very same day, which the policemen failed to obey, said CPPO deputy director for administration Supt. Jaime Quiocho Jr.

These 12 police officers were supposed to report for work last Dec. 30 until the New Year, but extended their Christmas vacation instead without informing their superiors, said Quiocho.

They have been assigned at the CPPO Holding and Accounting Unit and will undergo reorientation pending the result of the investigation.

Quiocho said Okubo and his staff made random inspections of police stations in the province to ensure public security and safety during the holiday season. (With reports from Michelle Bugtai/PNA)
