122 deaths due to ‘Usman’ still being validated: NDRRMC

MANILA — The number of deaths being validated and attributed to Tropical Depression Usman has now climbed to 122, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said in its update on Thursday noon.

This is significantly higher than the 85 reported on Wednesday.

This was disclosed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in the update signed and released by Executive Director Ricardo Jalad.

In the same update, the agency said the death toll is still being validated by its Management of the Dead and the Missing Cluster.

The fatalities are reported in Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions.

Also still being validated are reports of 28 missing persons and 60 injured, all in the Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

“Usman”-affected families are now pegged at 75,326, which is equivalent to 308,451 individuals residing in 624 barangays in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Quezon), Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Of the said figure, 6,217 families or 30,960 persons are still being aided in 210 evacuation centers while 10,844 families, which is equivalent to 55,274 individuals, are being aided outside.

Agricultural damage for Bicol and Eastern Visayas is placed at PHP528,509,569.

Meanwhile, 2,896 houses have been damaged — 698 totally damaged and 2,198 partially damaged — in Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Eastern Visayas.
