13 villages in southern Negros get P4.3-M for projects

BACOLOD CITY — A total of 13 villages in Isabela, Negros Occidental on Tuesday received PHP4.3 million in financial assistance from the provincial government for various projects.

The turnover of checks to the recipient-officials was led by Executive Assistant to the Governor Angel Verdeflor and 5th District Board Member Renato Malabor Jr. at the Governor’s Office here.

Mayor Joselito Malabor, who witnessed the release of the checks to the barangay captains and authorized representatives, joined them in expressing thanks to the provincial government headed by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. for providing funds for the implementation of the projects in their respective villages.

The beneficiaries were Barangay 7 Poblacion, Barangay 8 Poblacion, Amin, Banogbanog, Cabcab, Cansalongon, Guintubhan, Limalima, Makilignit, Maytubig, Riverside, Sebucawan, and San Agustin.

The financial assistance will be used for projects, such as the repair and improvement of water systems, hog dispersal, repair and improvement of water hand pump, agricultural inputs and purchase of farm equipment, and flood control.

Isabela town is the second recipient of project assistance from the provincial government this month after Candoni town, which was given checks for a total of PHP2 million for various projects in its six barangays.

In the first week of December, Candoni received PHP250,000 for the improvement of the multi-purpose hall in Barangay East; PHP300,000 for the rehabilitation of the water system in Barangay Gatuslao; PHP300,000 for the rehabilitation of Barangay West Hall; PHP350,000 for the concreting of the cemetery road area in Barangay Banga; PHP500,000 for the roofing of multi-purpose hall bleachers in Barangay Cabia-an; and PHP300,000 for the construction of a water system in Barangay Haba.

The recipients in October were the cities of Sagay and Cadiz and the municipalities of Hinigaran and La Castellana with PHP2-million worth of projects while in September, the beneficiaries of PHP4.419 million in project assistance were the municipalities of Calatrava and Toboso, and the cities of Sagay and Escalante.
