17 families pre-emptively evacuated in Calabarzon

MANILA — Due to inclement weather caused by the southwest monsoon, 17 families or around 73 persons were pre-emptively evacuated in Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, and Quezon) region, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) announced in its Wednesday update.

Ricardo Jalad, NDRRMC executive director, said these individuals were pre-emptively evacuated due to possible landslides and floodings brought by incessant rains.

As of this posting, the number of affected families in San Fernando, Pampanga remains at 22 or around 93 persons.

While the number of fatalities remained at one with one death by drowning reported in Barangay Corong-Corong, El Nido, Palawan last June 8.

Also, the number of damaged houses in San Fernando, Pampanga remains the same at 16 — 10 partially and six totally.

As this develops, the Department of Social Welfare announced that it has available relief stockpiles and stand-by funds amounting to around PHP1.156 billion. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
