A total of 177 rockfall events were logged in Mayon Volcano in the past 24 hours, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported Sunday, June 11.
Sulfur dioxide emissions averaged at 1,205 tonnes per day were recorded on June 10.
Moderate emission of plumes were also observed.
Mayon Volcano remains under Alert Level 3 or “intensified unrest.”
Entry into the six-kilometer radius permanent danger zone is prohibited as well as flying any aircraft close to the volcano.
Possible hazards, including rockfalls, landslides, avalanches, ballistic fragments, lava flows and fountaining, and moderate-sized explosions are expected. – cf
