18-day campaign vs child, women abuse set

BUTUAN CITY—The Regional Inter-agency Committee Against Trafficking, Violence Against Women and Children (RIACAT-VAWC) Caraga has set an 18day campaign to promote their advocacy from November 15 to December 12.

The campaign to end violence against women and children will kick-off with a fun walk activity at 4:30 a.m. on November 24, starting from Agusan del Norte Provincial Capitol going to Butuan City Hall Grounds, the RIACAT-VAWC said in a statement.

The anti-abuse body has also lined up activities for the event, such as a song writing contest where the winners among the ten shortlisted entries will be revealed.

Mita Chuchi Gupana-Lim, regional director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development , said a highlight activity will be the “Buntis Congress” in Bayugan City on November 29.

The event will gather some 100 pregnant women who are 4Ps beneficiaries to discuss about abuse prevention with their husbands, Dir. Gupana-Lim said.DSWD is the lead agency of RIACAT VAWC. (PNA/Noel B. Najarro)
