1,870 Tarlaquenos receive P5.1-M cash-for-work aid

TARLAC CITY — The city government of Tarlac, in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), has provided some PHP5.1 million cash-for-work assistance to 1,870 beneficiaries from the different villages in this city.

Mayor Cristy Angeles on Thursday said each beneficiary received PHP2,700 in exchange for cleaning the waterways and streets in their respective barangays.

“This program is a big help to our barangays. Through this way, our communities enabled to maintain its cleanliness. It also helps our constituents to have an additional income, especially those in the marginalized sector,” Angeles said.

Jimbo Soriano, officer-in-charge of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, said the program covers 26 barangays which are along the river, irrigation and those areas prone to flooding.

Soriano said most of the beneficiaries of the program are members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), who also received medical assistance and financial aid for the schooling of their children.

Meanwhile, he added some 444 4Ps beneficiaries received their financial assistance amounting to PHP2,400 each under the unconditional cash transfer program. (Eden Gutierrez/PNA)
