ILOILO CITY – A total of 1,140 uniformed personnel of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) were promoted to various ranks.
Lawyer Rodolfo Encajonado, Regional Director of Civil Service Commission 6, led the donning of ranks at Camp Teofilo Delgado, Fort San Pedro, in this city on Monday.
In his speech, Encajonado said the promotion of the police officers will motivate them to further do good in terms of police service as he also announced that two of the semi-finalists in the 2018 Search for Outstanding Government Workers in the region are from the PRO-6.
They are Police Officer (PO) 3 Mary Catherine de Montano and PO2 Erick John Delimos who will be recognized next month as one of the highlights of the 118th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.
Meanwhile, Encajonado recognized the important role of men and women in uniform in providing security to maintain peace and order in the region.
He also called on police officers to do better in their work.
“The ceremony today reminds us of our important role in exemplifying love to the country, building a citizen-centered government and promoting “malasakit” (compassion) in public service for our clients, our Filipino people,” he said.
PRO-6 spokesperson Police Supt. Joem Malong said a total of 563 police officers were promoted from PO2 to PO3.
The number of promotions were as follows: Senior Police Officer (SPO)1 to SPO2 – 298; PO1 to PO2 – 81; PO3 to SPO1 – 78; SPO2 to SPO3 – 52; SPO3 to SPO4 – 25; SPO4 to Police Inspector — 21; Inspector to Senior Inspector – 8; and Senior Inspector Chief Inspector – 14.
Aside from the mandatory requirements for promotion like, education, time in grade, mandatory schooling and eligibility, Malong said the police officers were also promoted based on their performance particularly, awards, individual performance evaluation rating, interview and strict neuro-psychiatric examination.
She said the newly-promoted cops will enjoy salary increase and other benefits that come with the rank.
She said their promotions also come with greater responsibilities.
“They are expected to perform better in their jobs,” she said.
