1st PNP SWAT Challenge in Davao set

DAVAO CITY — The Police Regional Office (PRO) XI will play one of the hosts in the 1st Chief PNP SWAT Challenge next month.

The SWAT challenge will be slated from March 1 to 3 at the Team Davao Firing Range on Diversion Road in Maa, this city.

Chief Insp. Andrea Dela Cerna, spokesperson of PRO XI, said the activity is in line with the PNP’s Master Training Action Plan for CY 2018. This is in partnership with Team Davao Inc., Philippine Association of Rifle Enthusiasts and Philippine Shooters and Match Officers Confederation.

Dela Cerna said the activity is aimed to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and the tactical proficiency of the SWAT units. She said the PNP is putting emphasis on upgrading its operational capability to respond to armed situations.

The competition will be participated in by more than 50 teams representing the Philippine National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), and other law enforcement units from all over the country.

“This is going to be highly competitive,” said PNP Chief Ronald Dela Rosa.

“It will be a three-day action-packed competition among the best swat units of the PNP all over the country and the highly trained elite tactical units of the army, navy, marines and air force,” Dela Rosa said.

Dela Rosa said there will be surprise awards and prizes from President Rodrigo Duterte. (Rhoda Grace Saron/PNA)
