2.3K new Covid-19 survivors bring PH recovery count to 1.17M

MANILA – The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday reported 2,382 new recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), bringing the country’s total recoveries to 1,173,006 or 93.4 percent of all infections.

In its daily COVID-19 bulletin, the DOH also reported 7,450 new cases of the disease, bringing active cases to 60,794 or 4.8 percent of a total of 1,255,337 confirmed cases since the pandemic started last year.

Of these active cases, most are exhibiting mild symptoms at 93.9 percent, followed by the asymptomatic at 2 percent, those with severe symptoms at 1.6 percent, those in critical condition at 1.3 percent, and those with moderate symptoms at 1.15 percent.

Another 181 persons succumbed to the disease, bringing the country’s total death toll to 21,537 or 1.72 percent of all infections.

Based on data collected on Wednesday, 48,862 tests for COVID-19 were administered, with 13.6 percent returning positive for the disease.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), 50 percent of 700 beds at intensive care units (ICU) are occupied, 41 percent of 3,800 isolation beds are occupied, 37 percent of 2,200 ward beds are occupied, while 35 percent of 800 ventilators are in use.

For the whole country, 56 percent of 1,900 ICU beds are occupied, 48 percent of 13,600 isolation beds, 49 percent of 6,000 ward beds, while 30 percent of 2,000 ventilators are in use. (PNA) -rir
