2 dead, 1 missing as boat capsizes off Camarines Norte town

NAGA CITY — Two women died from drowning while a man went missing when the boat they were riding capsized off the coast of Mercedes, Camarines Nortei on Saturday.

Village councilor Fidel Adan of Barangay 1 in Mercedes town identified the bodies of Lolita Aragon, 57, and Rica Tiam, 24, who were spotted an hour after the boat capsized.

Meanwhile, the male passenger identified as Albert Canaria, is still missing.

Adan said the boat came from Barangay Caringo and on their way to the town center of Mercedes when their boat capsized at about 6:21 a.m.

Personnel from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office immediately brought the bodies of the two women to the Camarines Norte provincial hospital but they were pronounced dead by the doctor there. (PNA)
