2 die, 38 hurt in Zambo road mishap

ZAMBOANGA CITY — A passenger jeep overturned in a remote barangay here Saturday, killing two people and wounding 38 others.

The Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) said the incident occurred in Barangay Lanzones, this city at about 7 a.m.

Police identified the fatalities as Amir dela Cruz and Elvis delos Reyes, 38. Dela Cruz died instantly while delos Reyes later expired in the hospital.

The passenger jeep, driven by Dessie John Enriquez, 36, was loaded with cargo and passengers and traveling to the city proper when it fell into a ditch and overturned, police said.
