Two private organizations committed to help in the Anti-Red Tape Authority’s fight against red tape by joining its roster of private sector champions.
Secretary Jeremiah B. Belgica, ARTA Director General, led the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Out-of-Home Advertising Association of the Philippines (OHAAP) on Wednesday.
Earlier, the ARTA chief also signed an MOU with the Health and Dietary Supplement Association of the Philippines (HADSAP) during the Stand Up for Hope Benefit Concert on 9 December 2021.
ARTA Champions are empowered to receive complaints in relation to Republic Act No. 11032 or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018. They also have the responsibility to promote and raise awareness on the Authority’s ease of doing business and anti-red tape initiatives.
In exchange for their volunteerism, ARTA will provide its private sector champions with training, orientations, seminars, and webinars, as well as relevant materials, to capacitate them in receiving complaints.
Sec. Belgica called on the new ARTA Champions to “keep the fire burning” when it comes to fighting red tape and helping people understand the benefits of the Authority’s ease of doing business initiatives.
“We as advocates of reform should not only act as if we are pushing for reform but we have to make people understand na ito ang realidad ng ating ginagawa ngayon… seryoso at busilak ang intensyon to really defeat this monster of a problem that is red tape,” he said in his speech.
Undersecretary Carlos Quita, Deputy Director General for Finance, Administration, and Special Programs, also acknowledged the contributions of volunteers and private sector champions in helping eradicate red tape in the country.
“We recognize the fact that ARTA alone cannot overcome the very big challenge ahead, especially in the streamlining of government services. We see the value of forming alliances with different groups in the public as well as the private sector,” he said.
ARTA’s other private sector champions include the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Guild of Real Estate Entrepreneurs and Professionals, Confederation of Filipino Workers Junior Chamber International, The Manila Times, Flash Media, Rotary Club Ermita, Rotary International District, Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce Philippines Inc. and Elevaxion.
It is also set to sign an agreement with another private institution that expressed readiness to be an ARTA Champion soon. (ARTA) -rir
