2 nabbed for extortion in Batangas port

MANILA — The Philippine National Police – Counter Intelligence Task Force (PNP-CITF) nabbed Tuesday two men involved in extortion who victimized drivers of trucks and other vehicles at the Port of Batangas.

In a statement Wednesday, PNP-CITF spokesperson Chief Supt. Jewel Nicanor identified the suspects as Jonas Escartin Trazo and Michael de Torres Comia.

Trazo and Comia are force multipliers of the PNP Highway Patrol Group (HPG) in Calabarzon, Nicanor added.

The two suspects were arrested in an entrapment operation that stemmed from complaints against personnel of the HPG Anti-Hijacking/Anti-Carnapping Control who are deployed at a station near the port.

Recovered from their possession was PHP2,110, including the PHP100 marked money used in the operation.

A third suspect eluded arrest.

“The HPG personnel detailed at said HPG establishment was PO3 Michael Angelo S. Bugayong, but (he) was not around during the conduct of (the) entrapment operation,” Nicanor said. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
