2 riding-in-tandem robbers killed in Cavite

IMUS CITY, Cavite – Two suspected car thieves were killed in a shootout with law enforcers along the Alapan Road, Barangay Alapan 2B here early Tuesday morning.

Superintendent Audie Madrideo, city police chief here, said they have yet to determine the identities of the two male suspects who were killed on the spot during the armed confrontation with operatives.

Madrideo said that the city’s problem-oriented policing (POP) 4 and 7 law enforcers and intelligence operatives were responding to a robbery/hold-up incident when they spotted the fleeing suspects aboard a motorcycle.

This prompted the Imus police to conduct pursuit operation, which resulted in the armed encounter around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police investigation disclosed that the suspects, armed with .38-caliber Armscor revolver and another unknown caliber of firearm, tried to evade the police dragnet and fired at the lawmen.

Further investigation revealed that the duo were also suspected as perpetrators of a car theft incident around 9:30 p.m. on Monday in Barangay Carsadang Bago 2, and in a robbery incident around 1:45 a.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Bucandala 4, both in this city.

Madrideo said that the scene of the crime operatives (SOCO) led by Police Chief Inspector Fernando Perilla arrived at the shootout site and processed the crime scene.

Recovered from the scene were three fired cartridge cases of caliber cal. 38 revolver; two 9mm pistol; PHP 1,310 in cash; an iPod; a Samsung cellphone; and the Yamaha Aerox 155 without plate number used by the riding-in-tandem suspects.
