2 weather systems to bring rains over parts of Luzon

MANILA – The low-pressure area (LPA) last tracked 190 km. south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City and the shear line will cause rain showers over parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said on Thursday (Jan. 27).

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Palawan, Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera region, Aurora, and Quezon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4:00 a.m. bulletin.

“The LPA still has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, but it will bring rains over parts of southern Luzon,” PAGASA forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said.

He added that the LPA is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday or Friday (Jan. 28).

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon.

Strong to gale-force winds are forecast over the northern seaboard of northern Luzon. Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to venture into the sea, while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.

Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas. (PNA) -ag
