ZAMBOANGA CITY–Two policemen were disarmed and their vehicle taken by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in the town of Godod, Zamboanga del Norte, an official disclosed Thursday.

Chief Supt. Edwin De Ocampo, deputy regional director for administration, identified the two policemen as SPO1 Oscias Gomez and PO1 Rey Lismis, all of Godod Municipal Police Station.

De Ocampo said they were disarmed around 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sitio Rebe, Barangay Mauswagon, Godod, Zamboanga del Norte.

De Ocampo said the two policemen were aboard a  police vehicle traveling from the town of Salug to Godod municipality when 15 heavily armed men, including a woman, believed to be NPA rebels, waylaid them.
