Filipino cue artist Carlo Biado fell short of taking home a medal in the men’s billiard’s 9-ball singles of the 2022 World Games held in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday, July 16 (Sunday in Manila).
Biado first lost in the semifinals to Joshua Filler, 8-11. Filler advanced to the final to face Sanjin Pehlivanovic.
In the bronze medal match, Biado lost again, this time to Aloysius Yapp of Singapore (8-11).
“My journey will never stop just because I failed this time. I still put God to my heart whatever happen, sometimes its hard to accept it for a moment but we can see later what his plan for me and be grateful for everything. Aim high. Don’t stop dreaming,” Biado posted on social media.
In the same post, the 38-year-old also mentioned that he will spring back into action in another event against David Alcaide from July 23-25.
Fellow billiards player Rubilen Amit also bowed out on Friday, losing to another German in Veronika Ivanovskaia, 8-9, in the quarterfinals.
“It may not be my strongest game and it could have really been better but I did try my hardest. All I know is that when I return home, will definitely work on the aspects of my game which I feel needs improvement which is my mental game and physical conditioning,” Amit posted on her social media account. – bny
