The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and Department of Education (DepEd) have confirmed the release of the performance-based bonuses (PBB) of qualified teachers and non-teaching personnel for 2023.
In a news release Tuesday, the DBM said the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Harmonization of National Gov’t Performance Monitoring, Information, and Reporting Systems (AO25 Task Force) has endorsed the eligibility of DepEd personnel.
DepEd personnel reportedly achieved an 80-point score from AO25 assessment, resulting in a PBB rate of 52% of the monthly basic salary and marks a “significant improvement” from the previous two years—45.5% in 2021 and 48.75% in 2022.
This means a Teacher I with a monthly salary of P27,000 or Salary Grade 11 is expected to receive P14,040 for their 2023 PBB.
According to DBM, the DBM said it will coordinate with DepEd for the issuance of Special Allotment Release Orders and Notices of Cash Allocation for the disbursement of bonuses.
Regional and division offices will then be notified once the funds are ready for release.
Both DepEd Sec. Sonny Angara and DBM Sec. Amenah Pangandaman underscored President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s strong support for the welfare of teachers and non-teaching personnel.
“Ang pag-apruba ng PBB ay patunay ng pagkilala ng administrasyong Marcos sa sakripisyo at malasakit ng ating mga guro, ang mga tunay na haligi ng Bagong Pilipinas,” Angara said in a Facebook post.
Pangandaman assured that the administration is committed to ensuring that performance and dedication of school personnel are rewarded accordingly.
“The approval of the 2023 PBB for DepEd workforce reflects our shared commitment to recognize the hard work and vital contributions of our educators to national development,” Pangandaman said.
In a speech during the culminating event of the 2025 National Teachers’ Month on Monday, the President hailed various initiatives the administration has implemented to improve teachers’ welfare.
These include the signing of the “Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo” Act, which grants teaching allowance for public school teachers to help cover classroom needs; and the “Career Progression System for Public School Teachers and School Leaders” Act which establishes a merit-based, competency-driven system for the professional advancement public school teachers and leaders.
“Kaya sa DepEd at sa iba pa nating mga ahensiya: Ipapatupad ang mga repormang tunay na aabot sa malalayong komunidad, magpapabuti sa kalidad ng pagtuturo, at maghahanda sa ating mga estudyante para sa mundong mabilis na nagbabago,” Marcos said.
