22 GRENADES RECOVERED IN BULACAN

Camp Aquino, Tarlac City – Several grenades were recovered and subsequently turned-over to an Army Detachment in Norzagaray, Bulacan at 9:00 in the morning of February 23, 2018.

Based on the report of the Joint Task Force (JTF) “KAUGNAY” of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID), a certain Rene B. Alcaraz surrendered twenty one (21) fragmentary grenades and one (1) smoke grenade to the Commander of Suha Patrol Base under the 70th Infantry Battalion (70IB), Philippine Army. Alcaraz, a 59 year old resident of Sitio Suha, Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan, is also the father of CAFGU Active Auxillary (CAA) Rey Alcaraz assigned in the same area.

As revealed by the personalities involved, these fragmentation grenades were accidentally discovered during an excavation in a lot owned by a certain Juan Bernardo of same barangay last April 2005. Currently, the explosives are in custody of the Army Detachment for safety and proper disposal. Further, investigation will also be conducted to determine the source and background of possessing these dangerous items. NOLCOM will continue to provide support to Law Enforcement Operations, in tandem with other concerned agencies, to ensure the safety and security of our fellow Filipinos within the area of Northern and Central Luzon.
