22K poor families in NoCot benefit from yearend relief op

COTABATO CITY — More than 22, 000 poor families in two towns of North Cotabato were beneficiaries of a year-end relief operation recently initiated by the provincial government.

Marchita Capilitian, provincial social welfare and development focal person, said in a statement on Monday that the beneficiaries comprised 12,081 families from Tulunan town and 10, 593 families from Aleosan.

“The relief operations took place last Nov. 7 in Aleosan while Nov. 8-9 for Tulunan,” she said.

Capilitian said each “vulnerable family” was a beneficiary of a five-kilo rice donation coursed by the provincial government through their office for distribution.

“We have served 19 poor villages in Aleosan while another 29 in Tulunan,” she said.

The provincial government has been conducting year-end relief operations to poor communities in the province since 2016.

The local social welfare office has partnered with the military and hundreds of volunteers for the endeavor.
