All 23 local government units (LGUs) of Cavite province received their citations from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) on March 8 for accountability and transparency in local governance in 2018.

DILG 4-A (Calabarzon) Director Manuel Gotis lauded Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin Remulla for spearheading the good governance initiatives for the province’s seven cities and 16 municipalities.

Gotis presented the citations and recognition during the joint Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council meeting at the Sherwood Hill Golf and Country Club in Barangay Cabezas here.

Seven cities got citations for the local governance yardstick — Bacoor, Cavite, Dasmariñas, General Trias, Imus, Tagaytay, and Trece Martires.

Sixteen towns were also honored — Alfonso, Amadeo, Carmona, General Emilio Aguinaldo, General Mariano Alvarez, Indang, Kawit, Magallanes, Maragondon, Mendez-Nuñez, Naic, Noveleta, Rosario, Silang, Tanza, and Ternate.

According to DILG 4-A, the LGUs have demonstrated “efficiency in managing their financial resources as certified by the Commission on Audit.”

Gotis and Remulla presented the plaques to the city mayors, led by Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, and to the 16 town officials, led by Cavite Mayors’ League Federation president and Carmona Mayor Dahlia Loyola.

Each LGU was also recognized for performance and participation in the recent massive cleanup operations under the Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program.
