283 e-sabong illegal gamblers nabbed

The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a total of 283 persons involved in e-sabong illegal gambling from Dec. 5 to 10.

A total of 276 gamers, three tellers, two referees, and two operators were arrested during PNP’s six-day police operations against e-sabong in Central Visayas.

According to PNP Chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr., they have confiscated gambling bets amounting to P155,779.00, eight computers, and 52 cellphones.

The authorities have filed 109 cases against the arrested individuals.

“The PNP supports PAGCOR [Philippine Amusement Gaming Corporation] in implementing the instructions of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to continue enforcing the nationwide suspension of all e-sabong activities and shutdown of all online infrastructure that patronize these illegal activities,” Azurin said.

Azurin also ordered all 17 Regional Directors,Provincial Directors, including the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Directors to “strictly implement” his directives to cease all illegal gambling activities in their areas of responsibility.
