3 Abu Sayyaf arrested in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Government forces arrested three Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) members in separate law enforcement operations in this city, the police reported Friday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified them as: Daud Bulan Sabdani, who is also known as Julhasin Hanwari alias Nur; Hood Salvador Abdulla alais Jiking; and, the third on was only identified as a certain Kim.

Galvez said Sabdani was arrested at around 5 p.m. Thursday in Barangay Tetuan, this city.

She said Sabdani has standing warrant of arrest for eight-count kidnapping with serious illegal detention for his involvement in the June 11, 2001 raid at the Golden Harvest plantation in Barangay Tairan, Lantawan, Basilan.

The Abu Sayyaf bandits seized 15 workers when they raided the plantation.
They executed by beheading five of the 15 workers while remaining 10 have either escaped or rescued by pursuing military forces.

Galvez said Abdulla was arrested at around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at a motel in Barangay Sta. Maria, this city. Abdulla has standing warrant of arrest for six-count kidnapping for his alleged involvement in the kidnapping of six members of the Jehovah’s witnesses on August 20, 2002 in Patikul, Sulu.

The victims were on a door-to-door sale of comestic products when the Abu Sayyaf bandits seized them.

The bandits executed by beheading two of the victims while the rest were rescued weeks later.

Galvez said Kim was arrested by joint military, police and National Bureau of Investigation operatives at around 12:20 a.m. in Barangay Rio Hondo, this city.

Like Abdulla, she said Kim was also involved in the kidnapping of six members of the Jehovah’s witnesses in Patikul, Sulu. (PNA)
