3 bars closed in QC for COVID-19 safety protocol breaches

By Christine Fabro

The Quezon City Business Permits and Licensing Department (BPLD) ordered the closure of three bars that violated public health and safety measures amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press statement released Sunday (July 18), the city government said that Task Force Disiplina and the Quezon City Police District discovered that these bars were seen operating beyond public safety hours.

Their customers and employees were also caught violating health and safety protocols, as well as local and national quarantine guidelines.

Meanwhile, the temporary closure order issued to En Route Distillery Bar in Tomas Morato on July 12 for the violation of safety standards and existing national and local quarantine guidelines was lifted after the BPLD confirmed its subsequent compliance with city ordinances.

“We were quick to close down violators, but we also support their reopening as soon as we are assured that they are complying with ordinances, laws, and guidelines,” BPLD head Margie Santos said.

“We can not let our guard down, especially with the revelation of health experts that the community transmission of the Delta variant has been detected,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement.

“Vigilance and the support of QCitizens in reporting erring establishments would prevent superspreader events and the widespread transmission of COVID-19.”

As of July 18, there are 1,390 active COVID-19 cases, 101,965 recoveries, and 1,204 fatalities. in Quezon City. –  jlo
