3 Pinoys join Russia slugfest Saturday

DAVAO CITY – Three Filipino boxers will slug it out on Saturday (July 13) at THE RCC Boxing Academy in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Lightweight Roldan “The Cobra” Aldea (13W-7L-1D, 7KO) of Negros Occidental will challenge the undefeated Mikhail Alexeev (12W-0L, 4KO) of Russia.

The 25-year-old Aldea knocked out Nathan Bolcio of Benguet in the 1st round last May 4 at Parañaque City. Alexeev, 23 settled a unanimous decision over Sergio Mauricio Gil of Argentina last April 22, 2018.

Also seeing action are former Philippine super flyweight champion Marco Demecillo (24W-7L-1D, 19KO) of Iligan City, and current Luz Proba featherweight champion Jhon “The Disaster” Gemino (20W-11L-1D, 10KO) of Lipa City.

The 28-year-old Demecillo will face Mark “Canelo” Urvanov (15W-2L-1D, 8KO) of Russia while 27-year-old Gemino takes on undefeated WBC International super featherweight champion Muhammadhuja Yaqubov (13W-0L, 8KO) of Tajikistan.

Demecillo knocked out Cebu’s Romnick Magos in the 3rd round last Oct. 24, 2018 in Tagbilaran City while Gemino won the vacant Luzproba featherweight title by retiring Cebu’s Zoren Pama in the 2nd round last April 15, 2019 in Palawan.

The 23-year-old Urvanov, on the other hand, knocked out Pfariso Neluvhulani of South Africa in the 2nd round last March 23 while the 24-year-old Yaqubov retained his first WBC International super featherweight title by a unanimous decision over Emanuel Lopez of Mexico last Feb. 22 in Russia.

German Titov of Titov/RCC Boxing Promotions is the boxing promotion along with the Russian Boxing Federation.
