DAGUPAN CITY — The city has inaugurated a three-storey building in the General Gregorio del Pilar Elementary School in Barangay Bonuan Gueset, one of government infrastructure projects in the 4th District of Pangasinan.

Pangasinan 4th District Representative Christopher de Venecia, in an interview with newsmen on Thursday, said the building has nine classrooms which will be occupied by kindergarten pupils, Grades 5 and 6 students, and the principal’s office.

“One of the things I learned when I was still young (was) that the youth are the nation’s future, it all begins with this, a good classroom conducive for learning,” he said.

The national government funded the PHP23.624-million building.

De Venecia, who spearheaded the budget procurement for the building project, said more projects will be undertaken in pursuit of higher quality of education.

“We also plan to build more covered courts, and call for higher wages for teachers,” he said.

The school building is among the series of launches de Venecia leads this week.

De Venecia led the inauguration of newly built Barangay Hall in Lasip Grande here worth PHP1.9 million and a covered court in Nalsian, Manaoag costing PHP889,000 on Wednesday, and of the two-storey barangay hall cum day care center in Bonuan Guest and Bonuan Binloc on Thursday.

The PHP2.879-million livelihood center in Barangay Tempra-Guilig in San Fabian, together with the Barangay Hall in Bari Mangaldan costing PHP1.895 million, will be inaugurated on Friday.

The PHP1.889-million covered court in Lobong, San Jacinto will be formally opened the following day.
