More adult Filipinos support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and his administration than the Duterte family and their political allies, according to the results of an OCTA Research survey released on Monday.

The First Quarter Tugon ng Masa Survey conducted on March 11 to 14 showed that about 31% of Filipinos favor Marcos and his government, while 20% back the Dutertes and their allies.

The survey also revealed that only 4% of the respondents support the opposition.

Around 29% are classified as “independents” because they do not support Marcos, Duterte, or the opposition, while the remaining 15% said they did not know who to support or refused to answer.

Marcos received the highest support from Pinoys residing in Metro Manila at 43%, while about 17% in Mindanao backed the President and his administration.

“At least a third of Filipinos from Balance Luzon and Visayas (32% and 38%, respectively) support the President,” OCTA stated.

Conversely, the Duterte family and their allies got the support of at least half of Filipinos from Mindanao (53%) compared to Balance Luzon where only 7% expressed support for the political family.

“Also, 18% of those from the Visayas and 14% from the NCR support the family and its allies,” the research firm added.

Among socioeconomic classes, Marcos and his administration garnered “statistically similar levels of support” from Pinoys under Classes D and E (32% and 30%, respectively), while 27% belonged to Class ABC .

The Duterte family, likewise, received the highest support from Filipinos belonging to Class E at 30%, followed by Class D (19%) and ABC (14%).

Across age groups, support for Marcos and his administration was highest among middle-aged Pinoys with 39% coming from those aged 55-64, followed by those aged 45-54 at 35%.

However, its support was lowest among the youth aged 18 to 24 years old at only 18%.

Meanwhile, the highest support for the Duterte family and their political allies came from the age group 25-34 at 27%, “while they got the lowest support from the age group 75 and above at 15%,” the pollster said.

OCTA’s Tugon ng Masa survey was conducted among 1,200 respondents using face-to-face interviews.

House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio Gonzales Jr. lauded the latest OCTA survey, noting the efforts of the Marcos administration in prioritizing the welfare of Filipinos have helped in gaining support.

“We welcome the survey result that says President Marcos Jr. enjoys the support of a large part of the population. Ibig lang sabihin nito ay nararamdaman ng bawat pamilyang Pilipino ang mga programang ipinatutupad ng pamahalaan para sa kapakanan ng ating mga kababayan,” Gonzales said.

The lawmaker also said that the House of Representatives will continue to support the legislative agenda of the President and his goal of bringing government services closer to the people.

“Kaya kami dito sa Kongreso, buo ang aming suporta sa lahat ng programa ng ating mahal na Pangulo. Halos natapos na namin ang mga priority legislation niya na kanyang sinabi sa LEDAC (Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council) at sa kanyang dalawang nakaraang SONA,” he said. – avds
