Four passengers sustained minor injuries after the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) activated its emergency brake at 9:08 a.m. on Wednesday to prevent a defective train from approaching Boni Station.

In a statement, the MRT-3 management said the injured passengers were given first aid by Lifeline emergency medical technicians.

“The defective train has resumed movement by 9:16 a.m., upon intervention by on-board technicians,” the MRT-3 said.

“The train has also been removed for further troubleshooting by MRT-3’s maintenance provider,” it added.

Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 officer-in-charge Jorjette Aquino has already apologized to affected passengers.

Rail personnel were also instructed to assist passengers on board the train. — gb
