Four National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) personnel under monitoring are now on self-quarantine due to the COVID-19 threat and are under the constant watch of the PNP health services.
“Pagkatapos noon ‘yung first na announced ay pinagself-quarantine na po natin siya (After the first announced, we have ordered him to go on self-quarantine). So we’re waiting (for an)update, kasi kung lumala ‘yun ipapa-test po naming, papa-swab (if it gets worse, he will be tested and swabbed) and wait for the outcome of (the) RITM finding,” NRCPO Reg. Dir. Debold Sinas said.
Two of the PUMs are non-uniformed personnel who have a travel history in Japan last March 4 and have just returned to the Philippines yesterday. They are still asymptomatic.
The third cop is a police sergeant who has frequently visited a Muslim prayer room in Greenhills, where the fifth confirmed COVID-19 patient often visits while the fourth PUM is a police lieutenant colonel whose wife has a travel record to Japan. He has sore throat and fever but was diagnosed with tonsillitis
The NCRPO has placed more focus on the third PUM as he was confirmed to have attended the prayer room with the fifth COVID-19 patient on the same day.
The NCRPO is now in search of a quarantine area for cops who want to undergo self-quarantine if they feel any symptoms as well as a location or facility inside Camp Crame for COVID-19 treatment and recovery.
“Instead of going home, alam mo naman ‘pag umuwi ka maliit ‘yung bata pupunta sayo ganoon (when you go home, little kids come to you). They are not so knowledgeable. Tapos ‘yung bahay mo ( And your house) is not conducive to self-quarantine,” Sinas said.
Meanwhile, the NCCRPO’s quick response team (QRT) composed of first responders who are doctors and nurses for COVID-19 is all set. But Sinas clarified that the NCRPO’s QRT will just respond and assist COVID-19 patients. – Report from Patrick de Jesus
