4 persons under police custody, tested positive for COVID19

The National Capital Region Police Office confirmed that Sta. Ana Police Station has four (4) persons under police custody who were tested positive from COVID19.

PMGen. Debold M. Sinas stated the following details of the four PUPCs:

a) male 26 years old, arrested for violation of RA 9165 on February 1, 2020 from Sta. Ana Manila;

b) male, 43 years old, arrested for violation of RA 9165 February 15, 2020 from Sta. Ana, Manila;

c) male, 37 years old, arrested for violation of RA 9165 January 10, 2020 from Sta. Ana, Manila ; and

d) male, 19 years old, arrested for violation of RA 7610 on January 25, 2020 from San Andres, Bukid, Manila.

Investigaton disclosed that on April 27, 2020 Quick Response Team (QRT) conducted rapid testing of Person Under Police Custody (PUPCs) of Sta. Ana, Manila wherein eight among them tested positive.

On April 29, 2020, at about 10:00 AM to 11:00, the Nasopharyngeal Swabbing to the eight (8) Persons Under Police Custody (PUPCs) and two (2) PS-6 Custodial Jail Officers was conducted.

It was on May 3, 2020 at about 8:30 AM when the result of nasopharyngeal swabbing was released and yielded four (4) PUPCs confirmed positive for COVID-19.

Thereafter, positive patients were immediately brought to Delpan Sports Complex, Tondo Manila to be isolated and monitored by the Manila City Health Office.

Meanwhile, four (4) other PUPCs who tested negative were placed at the Isolation Area of Sta Ana Police Station.

PMGen Sinas assured that NCRPO will continue to implement necessary precautionary measures for all inmates in Metro Manila detention cells to prevent further spread of the virus.

“We guarantee that the positive patients will be given appropriate assistance, treatment and care for their recovery. For the families of our PUPCs, please remain calm. You may communicate with them and check them through “online dalaw” programs initiated by the different police stations,” PMGen Sinas said.
