40 firms to join Marcos Fiesta Job Fair

LAOAG CITY — Some 40 overseas and local companies are set to join the Marcos Fiesta Job Fair to be held at the Robinsons Place in San Nicolas town, Ilocos Norte province on Sept. 10.

Anne Marie Lizette Bitancor-Atuan, provincial manager of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), confirmed this on Friday as she called on jobseekers to prepare their credentials for possible hiring.

National government line agencies in need of more manpower, among them the Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Education, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, PhilHealth, and Social Security System, will also join the job fair.

Atuan reported that of the 50 companies that PESO invited, 10 have yet to confirm participation in the job fair, which draws hundreds of job applicants every year.

“Be part of the Marcos Fiesta 2018 Job Fair on Sept. 10, which will start at 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be hiring on the spot,” she said.

As in previous years, applicants may consider signing up for pre-registration at www.ilocosnortejobs.ph for a faster and paperless processing of job requirements.

In 2014, the PESO initiated the online job portal for applicants to speed up transactions and to avoid long queues at the venue.

The job fair is an annual undertaking of the province in celebration of the ‘Marcos Fiesta’ every Sept. 11 to commemorate the 101st birthday of the late president, Ferdinand E. Marcos.

This is also in support of the provincial government’s “Task Force Trabaho” program to create more jobs for Ilocanos. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
