4,000 households in Marawi, LDS to benefit from MCRP

A total of 4,000 households in this city and six municipalities in Lanao del Sur are set to benefit from the Marawi COVID Recovery Project (MCRP).

MCRP is another partnership between the Community and Family Services International and the Australian government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). To be implemented from January 2022 to June 2023, MCRP aims to provide protection and enable the target beneficiaries to recover from the early economic and psycho-social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Steven J. Robinson recently visited internally displaced persons living in Lakeview Transitory Shelter located in Barangay Boganga where he reaffirmed the commitment of the Australian government to support them.

“There is much more work to be done. Australia is going to be with you. Australia stands by the Philippine government and will continue to support your families on the road to recovery,” he said.

MCRP has the following components: protection,  psychosocial, and livelihood.

Of the 4,000 households targeted, 3,000 of these are vulnerable household beneficiaries of the Marawi Recovery Project while the remaining 1,000 are the vulnerable locally stranded individuals (LSI) who have returned this year.

Community-based Support to Livelihood (CBSL) is to be provided to beneficiaries from Marantao, Piagapo, Ditsaan-Ramain, Butig, Lumbayanague, and Masiu municipalities. On the other hand, selected LSIs in Lanao province will receive urban-based livelihood and care packages. (LELA/PIA ICIC) -rir
