40K people to participate in Sputnik V clinical trial

40,000 individuals from different countries including the Philippines are set to participate in the post registration clinical trial of the Russian Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccine, Sputnik V, next week.

The epidemic efficacy of the vaccine will be studied in the clinical trial. The vaccine dosage request received by Russia has reached roughly 1 billion. The vaccine can be produced in 500 million doses per year with the help of other countries.

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has assured that the vaccine will undergo thorough study once it arrives in the Philippines before conducting a trial on Filipinos. -PTV News
