474 ARMM policemen get promotion

COTABATO CITY – More than 400 police officers assigned to various police units in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) have been promoted to a rank higher, a police official said Wednesday.

The newly-promoted police commissioned and non-commissioned officers, took their oath Tuesday after the donning and pinning of ranks at Camp SK Pendatun, the headquarters of Police Regional Office – ARMM, in Barangay Making, Parang, Maguindanao.

Among those who were promoted were 13 police chief inspectors, six senior inspectors, and eight police inspectors or equivalent to the ranks of major, captain, and lieutenants in the Philippine Army, respectively.

Also included were 17 newly promoted senior police officers (SPO) 4; 18 SPO3s; 147 SPO2s; 43 SPO1s; 188 police officers (PO) 3; and 34 PO2s for a total of 474 newly promoted law enforcers.

“You deserve the promotion because you worked for it,” Chief Supt. Graciano Mijares, PRO-ARMM director, said after the pinning and donning of ranks.

“Prove your worth, do what is right, avoid illegal activities and ensure utmost services to our people, the same people we vowed to serve and protect,” he added.

While Mijares congratulated the newly-promoted police officers, he also issued a stern warning against the so-called “ninja cops” or police scalawags who continue their illegal activities while in active police service.

“The law will be persistent in hunting you down, reform or suffer the consequence of your actions,” he warned. (Noel Punzalan and Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
