5.1-magnitude quake strikes Surigao del Norte town

A 5.1-magnitude quake struck Socorro, Surigao del Norte Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 17, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.

The tectonic quake hit two kilometers (km) southwest of Socorro.

It had a depth of focus of 129 km.

Instrumental Intensity I was felt in Cabadbaran City, Agusan del Norte and Surigao City, Surigao del Norte.

No damages and aftershocks are expected.
