5 fugitives nabbed in CIDG ops

MANILA — Operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) reported Tuesday the arrest of three Most Wanted Persons (MWP) and two others in separate manhunt operations in Iloilo, Occidental Mindoro, South Cotabato, Davao Del Norte, Pangasinan and Cavite on Monday.

Joint elements of the CIDG Iloilo, 602nd RMFB6 and PIB Iloilo PPO served a warrant of arrest for frustrated murder in Iloilo International Airport, Cabatuan, Iloilo Province against Rommel Albuna, 32, listed as the No. 7 MWP in Miag-ao, Iloilo.

Arresting officers in Mindoro Occidental, on the other hand, arrested Alejandro Tidula Jr. who has an outstanding arrest warrant for murder.

Meanwhile, the manhunt team of the CIDG Cotabato likewise arrested Sidney Trangia for frustrated murder at the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, Brgy. Zone 3, Koronadal City, South Cotabato.

Ranny Sumampong, ranked as No. 7 Municipal Level MWP in Bacuag Municipal Police Station and is wanted for attempted rape, was nabbed by elements of the CIDG Surigao Del Norte in San Vicente, Panabo, Davao Del Norte.

In Brgy. Sapang, Manaoag, Pangasinan, operatives served a warrant of arrest against Ramon Labigan, the No. 5 MWP in Mapandan, Pangasinan and wanted for frustrated murder.

While the authorities are conducting the said police operation, they saw the suspect along the Coastal Road in Manaoag onboard a motorcycle with an unidentified passenger holding a firearm and flagging down a truck.

A firefight ensued that resulted in the death of the duo. Two caliber .38 revolvers, a bag containing cash and a motorcycle were recovered by the authorities.

The CIDG is still identifying the identity of Labigan’s companion.
