6.2-quake jolts Sarangani province


A magnitude 6.2 earthquake shook Sarangani province Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the epicenter of the tremor is 86 kilometers southeast of Alabel with a depth of 16 kilometers. The earthquake occurred at 7:21 AM.

Intensity V was recorded in General Santos City, and South Cotabato while Intensity IV was felt in Kiamba, Alabel, Maasim, Glan, Malungon and Malapatan, Sarangani; Lebak, Sultan Kudarat; Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao; and Koronadal City, Polomolok, Tampakan and Tupi, South Cotabato.

Intensity III was recorded in Maitum, Sarangani; Cotabato City, Maguindanao; Davao City; Kidapawan City, North Cotabato; Tantangan and Santo Nino, South Cotabato. Intensity II in Columbio, Sultan Kudarat; Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat; and Magpet, North Cotabato and Intensity 1 in Zamboanga City.
