6K overseas jobs up for grabs in Ilocos Norte

LAOAG CITY – About 6,000 overseas jobs for skilled and unskilled workers are up for grabs in a job fair at the Ilocos Norte Capitol on February 2.

Organized by the Ilocos Norte government, through the Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the job fair aims to provide more opportunities for Ilocanos who wish to find employment abroad, and prevent them from becoming victims of illegal recruitment.

Anne Marie Lizette Bitancor-Atuan, provincial manager of PESO-Ilocos Norte, said a number of Ilocanos still want to work overseas despite numerous jobs being offered locally.

“Interested applicants may just prepare their credentials for possible hiring on Saturday,” Atuan said.

The PESO has again invited overseas companies accredited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to join the job fair, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Meanwhile, various national government agencies, such as the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth), Department of Trade and Industry, and DOLE will join the activity to provide a one-stop shop for those who may need their services.

The job fair is an annual undertaking of the province in celebration of the 201st foundation anniversary of Ilocos Norte.

This is also in support of the provincial government’s continuing implementation of “Task Force Trabaho” program.
