More than 7K Antiqueños benefit from ‘Balik Eskwela Diskwento’

SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique — More than 7,000 Antiqueños benefitted from the “Balik Eskwela Diskwento” program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) that has generated sales amounting to PHP3.043 million.

Engineer Lynna Joy Cardinal, DTI Antique information officer, in an interview on Monday said the promotional sales, which they organized before the June 4 school opening, earned more than double their target sales of PHP1.4 million.

The Balik Eskwela Diskwento was held last May 30 to June 4.

“The positive outcome showed that there are now many Antiqueños who already preferred to buy their needed school materials and uniforms here in the province and no longer went to Iloilo City as they used to,” she said.

She said that Antiqueños took advantage of buying their needs from the stores in Antique considering that they are selling items for the same price and of the same quality. They also get school supplies from their suppliers in Manila just like the stores in Iloilo City.

“During the Balik Diskwento there were 14 stores that participated,” Cardinal added.

Prior, a massive information drive was conducted to raise public awareness about the promotional sales.

The DTI encouraged stall owners at the Business Park in San Jose de Buenavista to participate so their customers could avail of discounts other than those offered by big stores and malls in Antique. (Annabel Consuelo Petinglay/PNA)
