Caloocan beats Mandaluyong to move to Top 8 in MPBL

MANILA — The Caloocan Supremos zoomed into the playoff positions for the Northern Division of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup after defeating Mandaluyong El Tigre at home, 83-77, at the Caloocan Sports Complex on Thursday night.

Playing minus Mar Villahermosa, who suffered multiple injuries in a recent car accident, and later in the game, Rene Pacquiaodue, due to an ankle sprain, the Supremos played solid basketball almost game long before holding off the gritty El Tigre down the stretch.

Almond Vosotros put up 22 points, six rebounds, six assists, and one steal, while Paul Sanga added 17 points and two rebounds for Caloocan, which moved up to eighth place in the North at 8-13.

Mark Sarangay set a record for the most rebounds in a single half, grabbing 13 boards in the first half before finishing with 20 alongside six points, four assists, one block, and one steal.

Gian Abrigo put up a career-high 23 points with nine rebounds and two assists, while JP Vidal put up his own career-high in scoring with 19 markers alongside two rebounds, five assists, and one steal for Mandaluyong, which fell to a tie with Pampanga for ninth place in the North at 7-12.
