ALAMINOS, Laguna — A delegation composed of 21 Filipino-American medical professionals took a trip back to their roots to extend a helping hand to residents and indigent patients in this town.

The US-based team of doctors, nurses and paramedical technicians who took part in the medical mission on Monday were members of the Filipino United Network-USA and the Phil-Am Association of Las Vegas, Nevada,

Dr. Philip S. Chua, a cardiovascular surgeon and Dr. Daniel C. Favito, a general surgeon, spearheaded the medical mission which took place at the town’s multipurpose building.

Mayor Loreto M. Masa who reportedly initiated the free health and wellness activity through private partnerships, thanked the delegation for their support and outreach services to townsfolk, especially to poor patients.

Masa said the medical mission conducted free consultation, checkups and distributed free medicines.

According to Municipal Health Officer Maria Victoria Josefa F. Basilan, the local government has earlier advised the Fil-Am delegation about the town’s health profile so they could prepare what equipment, paraphernalia and medicines to bring during their visit.
