MANILA — Malacañang on Wednesday confirmed that Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Arnaldo Arevalo “Arnell” Ignacio has tendered his resignation.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that Ignacio said he resigned due to “personal reasons” and wished him well.

“Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Administrator Arnaldo Arevalo Ignacio has signified his intention to leave public service for personal reasons,” Panelo said in a statement.

“He has intimated his desire to pursue other endeavors. We wish him luck to a new path he will traverse,” he added.

Panelo said that President Rodrigo R. Duterte has yet to formally accept Ignacio’s appointment.

However, Panelo thanked Ignacio for his contributions under the Duterte administration.

Prior to being appointed to OWWA, Ignacio was assistant vice president for community relation and services department at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor).

Ignacio, a comedian, was one of Duterte’s supporters during his presidential bid in 2016.

“Mr. Ignacio has proven his competence in public service in his current position, as well as during his tenure at the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR),” Panelo said.
