BEIJING – The Chinese government remains committed to pursue its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) to boost cooperation among different regions around the world.

Speaking to journalists at the joint opening ceremony of China-Asia Pacific and China-Africa Press Center Program on Wednesday, China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA) Vice President Hu Zhengyue said the administration of President Xi Jinping will continue the momentum in strengthening its ties with countries under the BRI.

“China will continue to be committed to the promotion of regional cooperation and to the implementation of Belt and Road Initiative that features consultation, contribution, and shared benefits,” said Hu.

“China cherishes the friendship and momentum of mutually beneficial cooperation between us,” he added.

China is hosting the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation this April.

Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua earlier said Chinese President Xi Jinping has invited President Rodrigo Duterte to attend the forum.

Zhao added that the Chinese embassy in Manila is coordinating with relevant Philippine government agencies to prepare for Duterte’s visit here for the Belt and Road forum.

Duterte attended the first BRI Forum for International Cooperation in May 2017.

China’s BRI aims to bolster connectivity in Asia, Africa, and Europe through trade and investments in infrastructure.
