PTV reporter selected to join Philippine delegation to a Japanese exchange program

MANILA, PHILIPPINES —- 20 exceptional young Filipino journalists will be flying to Tokyo, Japan for an exchange program sponsored by Japanese International Cooperation Center (JICE) and the Japanese embassy, in cooperation with the National Youth Commission (NYC).

Hailing from various parts of the Philippines, the delegation is a mix of undergraduate and graduate students in the field of communication arts, broadcasting, and journalism. Seven of the delegates are from Metro Manila, five are from the rest of Luzon, four from Visayas, and three from Mindanao.

Among the selected participants is PTV reporter Jervis Manahan, who is also currently taking his Master’s degree in Media Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

The program will run for eight days and will include various activities such as visits to Japanese cultural sites, government offices, broadcasting stations, museums, and factories.

Delegates will also have the chance to observe Japanese culture through a homestay program in Minakami.

The exchange program is a JENESYS initiative, which is geared towards fostering better understanding and stronger partnership between Japan and East Asia.

Established in 1977, JICE has been involved in various cooperation activities mainly for developing countries. It also aims to link Japanese technology, knowledge, and experience to the world, and to promote developing future leaders by deepening mutual understandings with the people of the world.
