PRRD approves promotion of ex-PNP spox, 5 others

Six officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP), including its former spokesperson, were promoted to the next higher rank.

In a letter dated March 13, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the promotion to Major General (two-star rank) of Brigadier Generals Benigno Durana Jr., Mariel Maniego Magaway, Jonas Binamira Calleja, and Reynaldo Guban Biay.

Meanwhile, promoted to Brigadier General (one-star rank) were Colonels Joselito Fernandez Salido and Ronaldo Genardo Evangelista Ylagan.

Durana, who served as PNP spokesperson, is currently the acting head of the PNP Directorate for Police Community Relations.

Calleja and Biay are acting chiefs of the Directorate for Plans and Civil Security Group, respectively.

Meanwhile, Magaway is the acting head of the Directorate for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.

Salido is currently the acting executive officer of the Directorate for Integrated Police Operations in Western Mindanao while Ylagan is the acting Deputy Regional Director for Operations of the National Capital Region Police Office.
