MANILA — Gilas Pilipinas was drawn into Group D for the group stages of the FIBA World Cup.

Following the result of the main draw at the Shenzhen Bay Arena, Gilas will join Serbia, Italy, and Angola in the said group.

This makes the showdown between Gilas and Serbia, the runner-up in the 2014 edition, the more anticipated match-up.

Group D games will take place at the Foshan International Sports and Cultural Center in Foshan, China.

The top two teams in the said group will make the Round of 16 and will be grouped together with the top two teams of Group C in Group J.

Spain, Iran, Puerto Rico, and Tunisia make up Group C.
