LEGAZPI CITY — At least 200 residents of Barangay Taysan in the southern portion of this city, mostly senior citizens and children, benefited from a medical mission of the City Health Office (CHO) on Thursday.

“The recipients of the medical services were those residents of the resettlement site who have health problems in skin diseases as well as high blood, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, and anemia,” Dr. Fulbert Gillego said in an interview, adding that the team is composed of professional doctors, nurses, dentists, and other health personnel.

He asked the mothers to bring their children to the village’s lying-in clinic for vaccination and to be given free vitamins and medicines to protect them against various diseases.

“We also refer those identified malnourished children to the nutrition center for assessment and monitor their weight and give them vitamins,” Gillego added.

He said aside from medical services, they also distributed free medicines to all the patients.

Gillego said they also invited swimming pool owners and hotel managers to inform them on how to properly chlorinate water to prevent causing asthma, chicken pox, sore eyes, ear infection and other forms of skin diseases among swimmers.

The medical mission is part of the outreach program of the CHO in different villages of the city.
