DAVAO CITY — Carlo Caesar “Too Sharp” Peñalosa of Gingoog City will fight Maximino “Max” Flores of Mexico for the vacant International Boxing Organization (IBO) World Flyweight title on August 25 in Manila.

“The final venue has yet to be finalized,” said promoter Gerry Penalosa of GerryPens Promotions.

Peñalosa, who holds a record of 14 wins, 1 lost and 7 Kos, has knocked out Watana Phenbaan of Thailand in the third round of their bout on February 16 this year at the SM City North EDSA Skydome, Quezon City.

In the boxing event in September last year, the 25-year-old Peñalosa won against Tanzania’s Jemsi Kibazange via a technical knockout (TKO) to win the vacant World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia South flyweight title.

In 2017, Peñalosa scored a split decision over Cebu’s Salatiel Amit to win the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council Silver flyweight title.

On the other hand, Flores (24W-4L-1D, 17KO) TKO’d Jorge Miguel Hernandez in the Nov. 10, 2018 fight in Mexico.
